Every Tracey Tour Board is shipped with everything you need to have to play the game. This includes the following:

  • Two (2) sets of buttons: you choose which colours you would like to receive
  • A Rule Book
  • A shaker of playing wax
  • Baggie for storing your buttons

That is everything you NEED in order to play crokinole. You have the option of adding accessories like a carry bag, wall mount, 20 holders, or extra colours of buttons. The optional accessories are a nice perk but not required to enjoy the game.

Every Tracey Tour Board is made with the same materials and to the same specifications. The top priority is always playability. By this standard they are all created equal.

We have worked hard to find the best materials and processes to make a board that looks awesome and plays even better. Once you get something like that dialed in, you don't mess with it.

When you are looking at the boards on our site all you need to decide is which one you most like the look of (it's a tough decision, we know). If you just can't decide feel free to order one of each. ?

Yes, even the Grey Rock Tour Board is made the exact same way.

The ONLY difference is that the playing surface and the rail have had a stain applied.  That stain is called "Grey Rock" hence the name of the board.

Like everything else we do with the boards this was well tested before we ever added it to our line up. What that means is that we made a few Grey Rock boards and played on them.  We took them to club meetings with top level players and asked for feedback. Everyone agreed that the board was fast and fun (and beautiful) so we added it to the Tracey Tour Board line up.

Every Tracey Tour Board we ship out comes with a rule book included. If for some reason or other you find yourself without a rule book, I highly recommend checking out the video we did that covers the official National Crokinole Association rules: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RoFMHC4frws

That video can also be found at the bottom of this page. (Video #2)

Note: We will eventually record a shorter, more succinct video that covers the bare bones of the rules, just what you need to know to get started. If you are the type of person who wants to know all the intricate details of the official tournament rules, than that longer video mentioned above is going to be your new best friend.

Regardless of which rule book or rules video you check out, I am huge fan of house rules.  Especially if you are playing with little ones, please adjust the rules to make it fun for everyone involved.

We see some people who like to sprinkle their crokinole playing wax all over the playing surface but that is not what we recommend.  You can use a lot less wax and still have a great playing experience by simply putting a bit of wax in the gutter. Then you gently rub your disk over the pile of wax before you shoot.

We hear this question a lot. When playing with 4 players it is most commonly played as 2 teams of 2 players. You sit across from your partner and you each have 6 buttons of the same colour.

The other team (now your mortal crokinole enemies) each have 6 buttons of a different colour.

A less common way to play with 4 players is what we call 4 player singles. In this case, each player will need their own colour of buttons. Typically each player will start with either 6 or 8 buttons. There are no official rules about how many discs are used in 4 player singles as it is just a fun variation, so experiment for yourself and decide what you find to be the most fun. We recommend 6 as it makes the rounds nice and quick.

Every Tracey Tour Board gets waxed before it is shipped so it will come out of the box ready to be played on.

To keep your board fast and fun we recommend re-applying the wax as needed. If you play all the time, like we do, you will likely want to wax it every month or two. People who pull their board out less often may decide that they only need to wax it once or twice a year. We go by feel. After playing on a waxed board for awhile you will be able to tell when the buttons start to 'slow down'.

When it does come time to wax your board our number one recommendation is Mothers California Gold Spray Wax. It is simple to use and produces a consistent finish. This product is available through Amazon.

Here is a 2-minute video showing just how fast and easy this is to do. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PiPQv0ZcF10

The absolute best place to store your crokinole board is on your table so that it gets played on every day. ?

We also have a fantastic option for hanging your board on the wall so that it can be enjoyed even when you are not playing on it.  This option can be seen here: https://www.crokinolegameboards.com/shop/crokinole-accessories/crokinole-wall-bracket/

Aside from on your table or on your wall, the next best way to store it is flat under a bed or leaned up against a wall behind a sofa or at the back of a closet. We recommend having something to make sure it doesn't get bumped or scratched. A piece of cardboard will do it.

We are often asked, "Will it warp if leaned against the wall"? Keep it reasonably straight up and down and you should be just fine.

Like any wood product, excessive heat will dry it out and it will absorb excess moisture. The main living areas of most homes will be fine. But I would avoid storing your crokinole board near heat sources/vents where temperatures can fluctuate drastically and in front of windows that would allow direct strong sunlight exposure. I would also not recommend storing your crokinole board in an attic or cellar, again you want to avoid extreme heat and damp areas. This includes the trunk of your car. We love to travel with our boards but always make sure to bring them inside with us when the drive is done.

Treat your crokinole board like a nice piece of furniture (that you flick buttons across for hours at a time) and you should be just fine.

That depends on how much customization you are looking for.

Customizing the colour in the ditch and centre hole starts at $30CAD.

Customizing the playing surface is something that we need to quote on an individual basis. As an example, adding a family name to the outside edge of the playing surface typically costs $75CAD. The cost of adding logos and images on the playable surface of the board varies greatly. It depends on multiple factors including size, complexity, colours, and images. The range can vary from $75-$300CAD.

A great place to start is to email us at: Info@TraceyBoards.com with the details of what you have in mind. Please know that there will definitely be some extra emailing back and forth to make sure we understand exactly what you want.

For ideas of how you can customize your board, check out some of the examples listed here:

Absolutely!!! It can be a fantastic gift for a boss that you love or for the fabulous employees that work for your company. A customized crokinole board makes a unique gift that will continue to bring enjoyment to the receiver for many years. It is perfect for Christmas, as a gift of recognition/achievement, or as a special thank you to valued clients.

Please know that in order to make your logo look beautiful on your board we will need you to provide a high quality vector file of the image.

Placement of the logo is a personal choice. One popular option is to put the logo on the edge of the playing surface, between the shooting line and the edge of the top (the same placement as our Crokinole Game Boards logo). This placement works best for simple logos and is the most economical option. Other logos demand to be seen and may look best in the outer ring (the circle that is the 5 point range) or right in the middle of the top. It really does depend on personal preference.
